It's a common corporate practice to contribute to all serious contenders. That way whoever is elected owes some favors.

Your guide to the Money in American elections -- Listings of the persons and companies who bought this election.

This is really nice, you can just type in the name of the company (in the field "Look up an individual Donor") and get their contributions.

I did a search for Sears (the formatting looks a lot better at http://www.opensecrets.org/)
