Score was a 650 (from Scorepower). Which at the end of December was a 631 (also from Equifax). The highest 4 codes were:

40 - public derogs a 4/92 BK and a 4/97 paid judgement both of which fall off next year (pd jdg 5 yrs in NY).

14 - length of time. All of the CC accounts are reasonably new, none older than 2 years.

10 - Proportion of revolving. 5 cards, 10K, 90% maxed.

8 - Too many inquiries. 4 hard inquiries in the last 12 months.

What I really find odd is that the Publics being one year from falling off count the hardest still. And the 4 inquiries count harder that 3 30-day lates in '98. Actually, I find it hard to believe that any of these count harder that the lates.

It also appears that 5 cards is a good number and that 9k on them itself is not bad (only the %). I would have expected both of them to be worse than 4 inquiries. And why don't they seem to care about the lates?

Don,
For Comparison

I did Chapter 7 1/96
No derogs since Chapter 7
3 Derogs still left on the report.
5 CC's using less than 10% total. 1 CC using (%40)
4 Inquiries in the last 12 months (3 in six months)

Score: 675

Plan to Increase Score:
2 Installment (secured) loans from my Credit Union
1 (got it already) Store Card
Keep Balences low- Small activity. (Rotate cards monthly in wallet) Use automatic Credit Card Bill pay for everything that has the option. (activity for bills that have to be paid anyway)
No applying for credit in 2002 so that 2003 will be fresh for inquiries.

2003 is when I'll graduate and I'll be 8 years out (Ch7) with NO derogs. I can see 700.

I would not have had to rewrite this if my post was not deleted.

Yuck. I ordered my report. It took 10 minutes plus because the site is getting slammed. It only gives me the regular report. When I log in to the regular report, it asks me if for 4.xx more would I like my score. I order that and get a message they will email me when it is available as they are experiencing heavy traffic. That was a half an hour ago.

Amistad, I didn't delete your post, I spent half the night reorganizing because your and Maurice's postings were all mixed up in one topic.

YOUR postings are at A 674 several years after Ch. 7

The FICO section now contains a topic called YOUR credit scores (Myfico.com and Equifax.com)

Within that topic people with their Scores are supposed to create their OWN topic. "One per person" so that those postings can easily be found and REPLIED to.

If you ever can't find your posting, please do a KEYWORD search by AUTHOR or log in your profile and look at your recent posts. If you still can't find it, please post in the Forum Problems section under "Missing posts" as this is currently a problem.

Well the scores were not supposed to be available until today but they were up and running last nite. I order my report at 9:30 am this morning and got the message of high volume will receive an email when ready, that was 9 hours ago still nothing. I tried calling and was on hold for over 30 minutes I gave up. I realize that this would bring alot of traffic but Equifax SHOULD have prepared for this. This is unbelievable, they sure take your money but deliver no report.
