Michael Jones (Msooner) | Friday, March 30, 2001 - 04:16 pm Two questions which affect my credit score. My mortgage broker has advised me to apply for mortgage under my credit, since my score will qualify for a better program than if we went with my wife and me. However, one credit card in her name, with not the best history, is showing up on my report as an AUTHORIZED. Does this count against me and if so, can I get this removed of my report? Second question- I know excess inquiries can actually lower your score, but what if you didn't authorize these inquiries? Example, credit cards, cell phones or other checking your credit I guess for solicitation purposes. My report shows about 8-10 inquiries in the last 15 months, none of which I authorized. Does my report somehow show these are not my inquiries or request so that they don't count against me? How can I get these removed? Anybody that can help on these two subjects would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to maximize my score. |

Inquiries: There SHOULD be an explanation with the inquiries' DESIGNATIONS and it should state which will NOT be included. PRM = promotional, A/R = account review .... Promos, reviews, consumer disclosures, etc. don't count. This is another problem with credit reports, leading to a lot of confusion. Why don't they SEPARATE the inquiries? Scoring counts only the 12 months prior to the scores. Please follow up with details if you think you have "hard" unauthorized inquiries. |
