BayHouse Credit Forum: Fair Isaac FICO and NextGen Credit Scoring: YOUR credit scores: 622 - 635 - 674, up from 540 in October - 730, with only a few years history - 764 (Myfico.com and Equifax.com): 568 with collections AND after removal - score frozen?

Hello, I’ve been a fly on your wall for a while and have learned a great deal..
I have started to repair some of my credit issues and recently pulled my report and score (from Equifax, MyFico (Score) and Experian, awaiting TransUnion in the mail.)

When I started this my FICO score according to Equifax was 568, in the process of cleaning up some things I have eliminated one Collection Account off my credit and I am working to pay or eliminate others. My question to you is if my score was 568 when this collection account was on my credit report, do you have any idea why it continues to be 568 after that account was taken off? And whom do I contact to get this updated?

BTW. I am working on other accounts on my report, should I just wait until I am done?

Thank for your advice.

CER

If you have other collections or charge-offs or even "settled" notations, ONE removal won't do much if anything.

The DATES are most important.

It's odd that your score is 568 exactly again, because it usually changes all the time.

CharlesR,It's beginning to look like the scorePower number freezes and defaults back to the last run fico number if you have a ongoing, unresolved dispute in progress with equifax and have pulled your score recently.
This has been happening to other people too, on other boards.Maybe thats why they don't want you to pull a fico number more than once every 30 days.

Thanks for the info..

I have disputed several items on my report and had a few more accounts drop off.. The only "DEROGS" on my report are all in dispute (balances, dates, last payments, etc...) All the other stuff is good. I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT MY SCORE IS NOW!!
But I can't pull a new FICO until 5/15/2001. If I am not looking to buy the house until next year and in a different state (in WA now and buying in FL) how can I get my score now???

Can I get a broker to pull it.. Do you think I am checking to far in advance? Remember I am in Seattle and I plan to buy in Flordia (Cheaper)

Koona, are you referring only to the scores obtained through Equifax/MyFico.com?

It looks like they don't have the ability to run a new score and that's why you apparently now can't order scores at all anymore within 30 days.

As Ann's husband's score proves, disputed accounts are definitely re-evaluated by the scores.

Charles: The only way to get your scores is through a mortgage broker. I'm not sure it's useful at this time, other than knowing the impact of the disputes.

And you'll get hit with the inquiries.

You definitely DO want to get preapproved and in the process get your scores long before you actually want to buy. I'd start looking for a broker to handle the FL loan now. There are many issues to look at, including your move, job, etc.
