Murty Notmurty | Wednesday, December 29, 1999 - 02:38 pm Hello: I want give some information that can help everyone here. 1. Network solutions is still stupid, lazy and cannot process Host/Domain Modification requests especially if the ISP uses CRYPT or any such security. 2. Network Solutions still controls domain info. YES 3. www.iDirections.com is the closest to the dream of having a domain for FREE, no strings and control domain info yourself 4. Network Solutions is breaking up soon into two companies... One: The Registrar Two: The Registry 5. In approximately 6-8 months from now, you will have competitive companies (who do both webhosting and act as registrars for you and give you web based control to change your info realtime). (Thought of the day: I am an ISP and my customer owns www.shoppingstores.com and it got stolen!!! and Network Solutions is innocent... even though I am the hosting ISP, Technical contact and my customer Administrative and Billing contact) |

x | Friday, January 07, 2000 - 04:01 pm All those listed at www.internic.net/origin.html are Registrars....not all of them provide identical services though. The fact that noone can deny is the webbased hostmaster software interface is not really strong and in use. It will actually be cheaper to get domain registered through a non-accredited registrar and in fact, they will gain more public applause. Its just like the fact that you get great rate and great service from a reseller of a long distance company than the long distance company itself. |
