| | Monday, January 29, 2001 - 12:03 am Has anyone sued a collection agency for a debt being reported incorrectly? If so, how much did you sue for and did you win a judgement, etc. I'm tired of having my date of last activity redated to current dates. The collection agency I am working with is called NCO financial, bunch of lying idiots. I know from another forum that someone sued NCO financial and won, but this was in a higher court, not small claims. This is in California btw. NCO financial is based in Pennsylvania. Christine, I know you've sued in small claims in California from what I've read so far, without much monetary reward too. I appreciate anyone letting me know. Thanks, excellent forum btw.

| | Thursday, March 22, 2001 - 06:32 am Well, no response from anyone on this issue. I guess I'm not surprised, we're dealing with multi-billion dollar corporations protected by entire law firms, and competent ones at that. I don't think I will even attempt to sue at this point. The only thing a mere man like me can do is fire off letters. It's disappointing to realize we really do have little power in this country when it comes to laws, unless you are rich. But I've been to other countries and would rather have it this way than live with the other problems I see elsewhere. Just would be nice if the little guy could be heard, even if I am broke compared to a corporation.

| | Thursday, March 22, 2001 - 06:46 am why are you talking with them? they can't possibly help you. get everything they say in written form. do not talk verbally with them. change your phone number. send cease and desist letters. is the statute of limitations past? get tough. hang in there. don't talk to them

| | Thursday, March 22, 2001 - 07:25 am Hey, you need to go to www.creditnet.com and go to the message board there. There's a person who's screenname is "mba from pittsburg" who has successfully sued NCO. His name is Mark Aronson and he constantly posts looking for people who have legal issues with NCO. Do a search for NCO or mba.

| | Thursday, March 22, 2001 - 08:58 am Bryan, if you can't find a lawyer, you can certainly sue them yourself. I sued 4 companies in the last few months .... just not collection agencies. Details are in the Legal section. There IS one collection agency I might want to sue, actually, a couple. The people that nearly got me arrested and I believe it was NCO who last contacted me re. GTE. Right now I have enough problems with mail and web and finding a new web host, so I'm not going to post at creditnet and get mail bombed again. But I'd greatly appreciate it if somebody would get me that lawyer's e-mail or phone. Otherwise, I'll have to do Small Claims again, and I can only deal with 3 active claims at a time.

| | Thursday, March 22, 2001 - 09:42 am Christine, At the bottom of this thread, you'll find Mark's contact information. Elsewhere on the board, he discusses what happened with NCO. Just do a search for "mba pittsburgh". http://consumers.creditnet.com/phorum/read.php?f=1&i=40427&t=40359

| | Thursday, March 22, 2001 - 10:25 am Ok, thanks! Mark Aronson: e-mail mba9999@aol.com -- 1-888-243-2224 The e-mail sounded familiar. Did a Eudora search and found that I had some correspondence with him about a year ago: He asked me 8 questions that I answered in detail. He responded he would post updates here when he has matters to report and didn't answer any of MY questions. 3 days later he asked me to turn off e-mail notification (Discus didn't work right again.) I haven't heard a word since.

| | Thursday, March 22, 2001 - 11:05 am Thanks everybody. This helps, there seems to be a class action suit pending, or something so I have hope. I will continue the process of collecting information via certified mail, etc. Then if they continue to abuse my credit file I will make another decision. If I decide to sue or contact attorney's in Pitts, then I will keep everyone posted. Thanks again everyone.
