John Lewis (Credithelp71) | Tuesday, January 30, 2001 - 09:04 am Here's my dilemma. I just paid off my auto loan at a local bank. They just updated my credit report with all 3 CRA's and put paid in full, then they updated my payment history and put in 15 times late and 1 time 60 days late. before the car was paid off I didn't have a payment history on my reports. I just called the bank and asked nicely if they would remove the lates from my reports and the rep on the phone said if I faxed them a letter explaining why they should remove them from my report and then they MAY consider removing them. I do still have an open checking acct.with them. My question is, I need to write this letter, but I wanted some advice before faxing it. I need to make it sound personal and sincere. She said just don't fax me saying please remove them. I have to explain why they should remove the lates. Can someone help me? Please |

There must be a reason why you are checking your reports and concerned with your credit rating. Are you looking to buy a house in the next year or two? Getting married? Having kids? And there must have been a reason why you paid late. Say you're sorry, you tried to pay on time, but .... Make em cry! Obviously we can't tell you what to write, because the bank knows much more about you than we do. Their request is unusual, wonder if they have a "best of those letters" party once a year. |
