| | Thursday, March 08, 2001 - 10:36 am I recieved a letter in the mail from First National Credit. No telephone number was given (kinda fishy), only their address was provided. ---Pacific Park Plaza/ 27101 Aliso Creek Road, Unit 126/Aliso Viejo, CA 92656--- "Pre-Approved Gold Card" - $15,000 credit amount - 0% interest for 1st 12mos. (after 12mos, 14.49% APR will be applied. -YEAH, RIGHT!!! I did a search for "First National Credit" so I could get a number to ask exactly what it's for [the search lead me to Christie's page requesting explanation of search], because I've recently applied for a car loan for the exact same amount (15,000). But then I saw "gold card" and thought that it may be one of those rip-offs *and I still do*. The ONLY fine print on this one sided paper reads: this approval guarantee is fully enforceable under the laws of the state of georgia. No application or credit check is necessary when cardholder signs this acceptance certificate. Sounds good, huh?....well here's the one line in the letter that makes it sound a little fishy...."You may use your gold card immediately upon receipt for all purchases FROM credit provider" - what's up with that? It makes me think that maybe the card is for specific purchases only, like a Macy's or Victoria Secret card. I've also tried the website: www.firstnationalcredit.com still no information

| | Thursday, March 08, 2001 - 12:38 pm From BBB report (BBB.ORG - Los Angeles Area)First National Credit 27101 Aliso Creek Road Unit 126 Aliso Viejo CA 92656 Business Started: Unknown File Open Date: 08/03/00 Last Report Date: 02/21/01 Principal Contact: Mahmoud Karkehabadi Phone: (949) 448-8822 Fax: (800) 890-8282 EMail: Not Available Web Address: http://www.firstnationalcredit.com Bureau ID: 13138491 Member Status: Join Date: Nature of Business This company's business is providing the sale of a credit card with a $15,000.00 credit limit for fees in advance. Bureau File Experience We rate this company as having an unsatisfactory business performance record. The company uses deceptive and misleading advertising to entice customers to send membership fees for a First National Gold Card. Some recipients believe the company is offering a Visa or Mastercard. The company has a pattern of complaints alleging deception and misrepresentation. Some complainants state that instead of a Visa or Mastercard, they receive a credit card which can only be used to purchase items from the company's catalog. The company's catalog contains ceramic objects typical of the kind sold in gift shops. Orders for any of the merchandise must be accompanied with a payment of 25% of the purchase price. In general, the complainants who received the gold card felt deceived. The company responded to some complaints by sending the plastic credit card or by offering refunds if the package is returned. Some complaints remain unanswered by the company. The Better Business Bureau does not endorse, recommend or disapprove of any company, product or service.

| | Thursday, March 08, 2001 - 02:27 pm Thank you very much, Hal. I also much appreciate Pamela's posting. I was wondering why literally thousands of people found a posting in the OLD forum, so I finally added a request to post here WHO everybody is looking for. I've read many complaints about that "gold card" myself, it's amazing they can continue to operate. Also, if you're looking for ANOTHER "First National ..." please start a new topic.
