| | Thursday, April 26, 2001 - 10:45 am the collection company has my medical debt under "120 days late" status instead of "collection-not paid" status. if i pay them ... they say they will mark my status as "paid" .... so will i have a "paid 120 days late" or will i have a "paid -account no lates" the debt is from a medical bill 3 years ago.

| | Thursday, April 26, 2001 - 10:54 am You will have a paid 120 days late most likely. The key here is that the date of delinquency needs to be clearly marked. That is the date the scoring model should be looking at in order to maximize your score. This is what you need to be disputing with the bureaus. Do you have the funds to pay this in full? If so, negotatiate how they are going to report the debt.

| | Thursday, April 26, 2001 - 11:16 am the original bill is like $875 they will settle for $636 i have been speaking with a typical person who calls me time to time. i told them i would pay $636 to remove it from the report ... they they can't do that. where do i go from here? and what is the date of delinquency... is it the date the 120 days begun? or is it the date of last activity?

| | Thursday, April 26, 2001 - 12:24 pm It is the date + 180 days from when you last made a payment before it was charged off. Now, if you make a payment today that does not mean the date will be reset. That original date described in the first sentence needs to be used. Read this letter http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fcra/amason.htm about dates.
