| | Thursday, April 26, 2001 - 11:03 am I'm trying to figure out what I should do. I had (as many) several credit cards that I got while in college, charged them up, got limit increases, charged them even higher, and finally got them all maxed out, and couldn't pay the minimum required payments on all that. I was foolish, but now want to figure out what I can do to clean everything up. The most recent mistake I made, was to get with Ameridebt credit counceling service. They didn't really do what they claimed they would, and most of the creditors kept high interest on the accounts. After a year of paying $440 a month, I was about $500 or so below where I started so I gave up on that. It's since been over a year, and I chose 1 of the accounts to keep payments on, but the others are all delinquint, charge off exc. I got one of those free online credit reports, and was able to find all the ones I know I had. Now will the SOL 4 year and drop off the credit reports 7 year clocks be starting as of the last delinquincy (January 2000 the first missed payments to Ameridebt) or are they based on the dates of delinquincy from before, which is all around January 1999. The SOL isn't up either way so of course I'm concerned that some of these creditors will come back to bite me. Should I consider a different credit counseling type of thing to get it all consolidated, try and settle the accounts slowly 1 at a time by contacting the original creditor with an offer, or start disputing them to the creditors and CRA's? Whatever the case, I definitly don't want to declaire BK, I have several good trades now (car loan from 98, mobile home mortgage from 98, Providian Gold with $1100 limit and low balance, and the radio shack card that I kept current with) Any help you gurus on the board can offer me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris

| | Thursday, April 26, 2001 - 12:32 pm Forget CCCS or any other debt counseling service. Do a search on this board and see that its notation is the kiss of death. Not to mention that none will do better than Ameridebt did for you before. Your SOL date has been reset by the payments being sent in by Ameridebt. See the Carreon and Associates website and look at the SOL section. Your date of delinquency has not been changed and should be on all trade lines for every single one of these accounts. See the letter here that I also posted for Jason a moment ago. http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fcra/amason.htm Were these companies hounding you before Ameridebt and are they hounding you now? What is your ability to pay these off? What about bankruptcy scares you?
