If you have a loan with the Money Store, request a history of the loan, specifically including the period May 31, 1999.

They Did a system conversion and charged every daily interest loan on the system an additional days interest.

Consumers were cheated out of over 1 million dollars.

THey have a "task force" working on it but they are so arrogant they probably won't fix it.

Call Consumer Relations at 916 617 1000.
Say - "I'm calling because I've heard that the MOney Store had a conversion problem on Daily Accrual Loans and I want to know if I've been overcharged" They do know about it don't let them play dumb.

There's a useful posting, thanks!

The Money Store has always been on my list of lenders to avoid, but they DO make it easy to get the cash. They specialize in loans to low scorers with high interest rates.

I find it interesting that they apparently don't have the legal/moral obligation to immediately refund the overcharged interest on their own? It takes a "task force?"

If anyone has more info, please post.

Thanks, Christine

Working in 'IT' the task force probably amounts to they know about the problem (probably a stupid programming error), and someone does have it on thier list of things to do, but it is not the highest priority on thier plate yet. And it is not unusual for the left hand of Consumer relations not to know what the other hand is doing. As for their legal / moral obligation, they have to get fix the problem first. Then they can right a 'special' to correct the accounts. The only way to make that fire burn brighter than the other fires they are probably fighting, is more phone calls or legal action.
