Anonymous1 (Anonymous1) | Monday, December 11, 2000 - 12:31 pm Good-I have 1 year to go on chexsystems (BofA screw up landed me there 4 or so years ago) and this was the only bank that would approve me for basic checking. I had my doubts, but thought I would give it a try. After waiting awhile to set up my account, they sent me a VISA Check Card (surprise!) and everything else. Customer service is prompt (but wait until bad)... BAD-After depositing the $100 opening fee, I order some official checks to pay bills (thinking they were true to their motto, real time banking) and I would get them in a matter of 5 days or so. Still waiting as of 11/24. Customer service says one thing and when you call back another service person says another. Okay, while I wait a few more days before going ballistic, I call to ask why my direct transfer account has not been set up. They tell me it will...(See ugly)... UGLY-Now I am losing patience. I work for a small company so direct deposit does not work obviously. I WILL NOT send checks in the mail for deposit (and since this is my only checking account that would have to be either my paycheck or money orders) and if I did, this "bank" would probably make me wait 7-10 days or more (since everything with them takes longer than the norm) which does not help me in the least. On the issue of direct transfers from my Cal Fed savings to Compubank (this way I can deposit my checks and transfer funds to Compubank to write checks). Not gonna happen. They NOW tell me (after telling me 3 completely different lies) that I cannot set up a transfer from Cal Fed Savings to Compubank checking unless I talk to Cal Fed (good luck with that!). So the form I fill out to approve this was sent in (with all my account numbers) for nothing! So to wrap this up, these guys suck and I guess I am out of luck for the next 8-10 months. They have very slow transaction times and they obviously do NOT teach their customer service people ANYTHING! This is why companies like Compubank will lose and go out of business, because the brick and mortar banks are still convenient (even though most are incompetantly run as well). If somebody from Compubank is reading this...You now have lost a customer. Sorry. |
Christine Baker (Admin) | Monday, December 11, 2000 - 07:05 pm I didn't know that Compubank is NOT utilizing ChexSystems. I've been meaning to post on Compubank for a while now. I've decided that it can NOT be your only bank. The only problem is, I can't figure out where else to go. I think I've already tried and dumped all the major banks. It's so frustrating. Regarding check deposits: I found them to be very prompt. Once I had about 25+ rebate checks from cyberrebates.com and I mailed overnight, wouldn't want the post-office to loose those. All my mailed checks were always promptly deposited, with a one day hold. Except of course when they refused to deposit the credit card check. Have to say that I agree with your assessment of customer service. I never got them to give me a pin, I just try to use bank mail only. I DO like their customizable preferences with e-mail notifications of all kinds of events, and all correspondence is E-mailed, that's nice for someone like me with a 30 to 90 day snail mail delay. Being constantly disconnected from their system is annoying. I just can't sit there and WAIT for those SLOW pages to load without doing other stuff. It's like a bank coming in my house and shredding their statements because they're laying on my desk while I'm doing something else. Am I 5 years old? copy to custsvc@compubank.com |
Anonymous1 (Anonymous1) | Tuesday, December 12, 2000 - 12:37 pm I called and complained before I acted to irrationally. After sending them proof that my CAL FED account is my own, they approved the direct transfer setup. A+ to them on that. Faith somewhat restored. Still waiting for my 2 official checks requested on 11/24 (where the hell are they?!?!). Otherwise, I am now happier so I will transfer 1 dollar from Cal Fed account to see if the direct transfer works. Applied at Washington Mutual online (they haven't responded which tells me they looked at chexsystems). We will see about opening 1 brick and mortar checking account to cover my arse. |
Christine Baker (Admin) | Tuesday, December 12, 2000 - 12:55 pm Washington Mutual *erroneously* reported me to CheckSystems for owing less than $17 2 years ago, shortly after they took over Home Savings, who had started foreclosure on my house after they had *misplaced* my $2,200 mortgage payments a year or so prior to that. Needless to say, each one of those screwups cost me thousands of dollars, not to mention the aggravation. As I said, I think I've tried them all, and they ALL sucked. |
Anonymous1 (Anonymous1) | Tuesday, December 12, 2000 - 04:45 pm Wells (who I left before BofA), BofA (their screw up, my loss for 5 years, oh well) both sucked for me. I hate banking monoliths. Cal Fed, so far, has been very courteous in the customer service and is prompt with clearing my checks. While most "chain" banks turned me down for a savings, I applied on-line for a savings account with Cal Fed and received a phone call the next day to tell me, welcome. I am quite happy with them. If I keep my nose clean and build my savings, they told me I could have checking in 3 months. The only other bank I would recommend to people is Downey Savings. I had a savings and checking account with them in the late 80s and they were very good. Flash forward, 2 of my friends use them and swear by their service and ability to take care of things quick. I would go with them, but they use chexsystems and I don't feel like begging the branch manager to let me have an account. Compubank, will get a second chance (like I have any choice) so hopefully my transfer goes through quick and I get |
Anonymous1 (Anonymous1) | Saturday, January 27, 2001 - 08:30 pm I log into my Compubank account today and have a message waiting. To my surprise, they are cancelling their affiliation with ClickRewards. Their reason...Lack of Compubank customer interest. Not cool...I love the ClickRewards bonuses. |
Anonymous1 (Anonymous1) | Friday, March 30, 2001 - 07:54 pm Guess Compubank is merging with NetBank. Oh happy days for me. I am going from bad to (according to Gomez) worse. Guess BofA is looking more attractive (insert choking sound here). |
Christine Baker (Admin) | Friday, March 30, 2001 - 11:07 pm I read that today, bummer. It probably won't be long until NetBank is BofA. Would be just my luck. |
Christine Baker (Admin) | Wednesday, April 04, 2001 - 12:07 pm Does anyone have any recommendations for another bank? I was just told that the free services (such as free wire transfers) will no longer be free. MY most important criteria are phone AND net banking with 24 hour PERSONAL phone service. |
Anonymous1 (Anonymous1) | Thursday, April 05, 2001 - 08:49 pm Yes, anybody have any recommendations on a new bank (besides BofA), I am all ears. I have about 6 more months of Chexsystems left. It would be just my luck Netbank dumps me after all of this is officially merged.
