I'd like to ask a question: Who thinks all comers here should be able to voice an opinion, without fear that they will not be allowed to post?

As someone who ran a nice little BBS for 5 years in the heyday of FidoNet, it has been my experience that truly open forums flourish, while one's with a certain editorial bent, shall we say, do not.

In short, attacking a poster like rcb for no better reason than he is unpopular does NOTHING to enhance the credibility of the site as a whole. I was VERY happy to find this place, now I'm not so sure. Comments?

Yeah, I got a comment, or two :)

The day somebody pays me $25/hour to sit here and first READ every posting, then POST required follow ups and CORRECTIONS, I'll be happy to do so. Until then, I *chose* to do a few other things.

However, it DID greatly disturb me that rcb posted that there is NO statute of limitations for charge-offs. He gave some VERY bad advice in other postings.

It's MY name and MY reputation that many readers rely on. Of course, often advice is based on opinions, and as the BayHouse Forum proves, experts can argue till hell freezes over and still not agree.

But that's ENTIRELY different from posting outright lies and subsequently insisting that those lies are true.

One reason I still continue to host the BayHouse Forum is that I learned a few months ago that the Creative Real Estate Online forum is moderated. This was posted in the "old" Forum and I had subsequently contacted the moderator. Apparently they do remove postings with a not so positive outlook on real estate.

I just feel that as the person who PAYS for the space here and who spends ENDLESS hours keeping it functioning, I should have the right to express MY opinion without being subjected to personal attacks and just plain idiotic and/or factually incorrect postings as followups.

Absolutely EVERYBODY can post WHATEVER they like in the many different topics. But I found that I no longer can keep up with it. I read all the postings as they are e-mailed to me, sometimes once a week or even less frequently. Often I want to respond, then I can't even find the posting in the forum because it was "OFF TOPIC."

I read that rcb posted without reading the original post in that topic! That's how bad things are now. People post just to post without any regard for the topic.

If it offends you that I chose to set aside a SMALL area for the topics that interest me, without the garbage, well, there's always rcb's new forum :)

I'm off for turkey dinner!

Christine

PS: I also feel that postings on somebody's grammar, spelling, or usage of words are ENTIRELY inappropriate. Irregardless is as good a word as any, I know what it means, I suspect most others do. This is NOT the "Elitist English" forum and I know many people who barely speak English at all, yet the have my fullest respect.

To quote Mark Twain, "It is better to allow people to think you are a fool, than it is to open your mouth and remove all doubt"

I'm not buying it. I was a sysop (a REAL sysop, not some racist whiner who doesn't even admin her own box) for 5 years. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

I've never bothered you, I have no idea who you are. Am I in YOUR kitchen? Last time I checked this was still MY space.

Why not just go back to the news groups, to being a REAL sysop, to rcb's forum, or whatever else makes ya fell better?

Christine

For two reasons, the first one being that I DID actually come here for help! I have not seen much help; no one seems to know anything about my particular problem. The second one being that I find your antagonistic stance against men and minorities, combined with your utter lack of grammatical skills to be very annoying! Never have I seen someone so willfully ignorant, and so fiercely proud of it.

Disgusted with this man!

You know, usually I stay out of these conversations, especially if they are not a direct question to me or something that I know the answer to, but I can not believe what I am reading! To come here, seeking help and then spend all your time badgering the moderator is useless. You made your point on how you defend RBC or who-ever. Yes, we agree, freedom of speach. but you have to realize that people, especially consumers come here to get ACCURATE info. This forum is known for having attorneys, credit professionals and lenders frequent it, so the advice they receive needs to be that which is accurate as to NOT make their situations worse. One bad ounce of advice can set in motion a 7 year nightmare for someone who follows such advice.

I agree, with the moderator, if you don't like the way she runs it, then you pay the bills or move on. The day you can tell the moderator what to do is the day she should forward her bills to you!

Dear Disgusted,
As a veteran of many forums since 1983, I do feel an obligation to point out something you have plainly missed: A bad moderator will do more damage to a forum like this than ANY bad advice a professional or non-professional will give in such a forum. Acting in any way biased, or even having the appearance of a lack of objectivity will cause MOST professionals with good advice to stay away from such a forum, to prevent any tarnish to their own credibility.
I am actually trying to help. I'll give you the same advice I was given. If you don't like it, go elsewhere.

That is obviously not true. The attorney's,credit professionals and lenders have remained. why? because they find the content good overall,I have not seen many complaints about the moderator, except you and RBC. Being a man myself, I hate to admit it, but you guys seem like the women haters.

You are welcome to think what you like, and will be given all the consideration than an anonymous coward is due...

Dear Dr. Spock
I have yet to see you add a valuable peice of information to this site. I bet your the guy in the grocery store that complains in line and makes an ass of yourself. After you have given some good advice like christine and Sean and Kristi give, then you can speak, until then you are just costing Christine for the extra MB stored for your postings. I know, why don't you go to RBC's sight and stay or go back to your BBS in your closet. Your sounding a bit crotchity.

Left Wing,
What valuable insights have YOU posted? Look in the mirror before you harangue me, but thank you for at least having the courtesy to use your real name.
Additionally, I'm not a Dr. I did work in health care as a direct care para professional for quite some time, but I never did go to medical school. Perhaps after someone actually answers the question I posted in the credit forum, I may be able to go back to school and complete my training. Shrug.

Christine,
Too much champagne is bad for you. Hope you had a happy New Year party, I did.
