Hello everyone, I have been reading the postings and found out a lot of useful information. I really need help. When I was a student I messed up. I have four charged off accounts I believe they do not total more than 4k. I also have a lot of hospital bills. Now that I am an adult :) with a job at a major credit card company, I want to pull my act together. I am very discouraged with what I learn at the company I am working. I want to settle my debts, but at the same time I want to be able to repair my credit to some extent. I have read your postings that it is impossible to get negative info off once you pay the creditor, so how do you do it before? I have read some of the repair your credit books but honestly they do not provide anything different or more than I already know. so what do you suggest?

How long ago were the charge-offs and medical bills?

The goal is to make your payment contingent on their cleaning up your credit report. Offer to pay the amount owed if and only if they'll remove the item from your credit report.

The simpler way is to just file bankruptcy. Of course that depends on the amount of your medical bills.

Have you seen your credit report? How does it look?

shylock, thx for the advice, actually I requested the 3-1 credit report special from true lending, it is actually worse than I imagined. the medical bills are incredibly high. I had a car accident few years ago, and the guy was uninsured, to make a long story short, when i finally realized that i should sue, it was more than three years. I am seriously considering filing for banktrupcy, I know nothing about it. I would apreciate any advise.

Don't wait! They are trying to reform the bankruptcy laws so get filed while you still can.

It's a great thing for your credit report if you already have serious delinquency or derogatory items on your profile.
