Are gas cards easy to get approved for?
I was once told that gas cards are good for your credit, and easy to get. (but I've also been told alot of things that were not necessarily correct)
I am a little relunctant to apply, because if declined, all I get is another inquiry.

Some of the credit-related sites recommend gas cards as a way of improving your credit rating. I think bankrate.com is one of them. Gas cards do tend to be relatively easy to get, at least compared to MC/Visa.
You probably have to take everything into account and decide whether the chance is worth the extra inquiry.

I had a Texaco card once. It didn't show up on my credit report. Now I have a Shell Card. It doesn't show up on my credit report either.

Had a Mobil and a Sunoco card years back (1992-93). Both showed up on all three bureau reports. Don't know if it's the same way today.

My Amoco card showed up on my reports. A few years ago, it was converted to a Visa card, which of course shows up.

Only Citgo and Phillips 66 are reflected in my situation. I find it interesting why all are not reflected. Shell sold their cc activities to associates i believe--i haven't seen it show up yet.

Shell, Mobil, Texaco & Unocal. None of them have shown up on my reports ever. Mobil recently changed their credit card billing to some bank (I think Monogram) so it may start showing up.

Confirmed that Shell is with Associates National Bank in Delaware. Despite that no report is made.

Just because a credit card is issued through a bank is no guarantee of reporting.

Maybe they've all decided to go the way of the utility companies, since the gas cards are 30 day cards. Maybe they've decided that it's cheaper to forego the cost of reporting every month in lieu of reporting only when it goes delinquent (and/or to a collection agency.
