Lynn Whealer | Monday, March 27, 2000 - 09:59 am Richard - In several of your posts, you've referenced some specific scorecards (one if you have a collection, one if you have a very short credit history,etc.). I've heard there are about 10 different ones. Do you know what all (or most) of these cards are targeted for. Or can you just give us some additional info on the scorecards, what they take into account, etc? I realize this question might be asking for big reply, for which you don't have enough time. If so, perhaps you could just hit a couple of "high points"? Thanks in advance if you've the inclination / time. |

I probably can't tell you anything you don't already know, however. The bureaus advertise in their sales literature that they do use 10 score cards, and offer some idea of what factors determine them (such as you mentioned above). The other way to get a feel is to look at a bunch of files and the reason codes with them and see if you see patterns. For instance, it appears that reason code 22 represents a score card (duh you may say), that it only takes 1 such account (90+, collection or public record) to get you there, and that that account can be as old as 6 years and you are still on that card. Of course, that doesn't mean you can't have a decent score. But that is just based on what I have seen, and I can't make any claims of knowing for certain that it is correct. |
