Is it ALWAYS possible for a creditor to take back an account from a collection agency if they want to? I have a good relationship with the original creditor (believe it or not), but the collection agency people have not been willing to work with me. the original creditor's accountant told me that they can't take back an account once they've given it to collections, but honestly I think she doesn't really know what their agreement is, she only knows that they don't usually take back accounts. If I tell her exactly how to take it back, I think she'd be willing to, but I don't think she would want to go to the trouble of figuring out how to do it herself.

If they've sold the account, then they have transferred ownership of the debt to the collection agency. It may not be possible to deal with them (they may not even be interested!)
