Morgan Appel (Downinsocal) | Tuesday, May 02, 2000 - 10:11 am Don't know how many of us have had to deal with the nutcases at United Creditors Alliance. Even the name smacks of idiocy--divided we fall, but united we collect? Ah, the dark side of the force? At any rate, these yutzes like to play a game that I call "The Secret Agreement." After not hearing from my pals at UCA for quite some time, they send me a letter out of the blue stating: REMEMBER, your next payment of $XXX is due in our office no later than April X, 2000. Then, five days later, they send you another notice that makes you look as though you are defaulting on some sort of promise. Remember? I must have amnesia, because I don't believe I arranged a payment schedule with them. The letter is constructed to make you believe that you have agreed to make a full payment that is less than the amount owed. DON'T FALL FOR IT! Send them a C+D letter reminding them of the FDCPA. Just some friendly advice. |
