ken hendricks (Ken) | Tuesday, June 06, 2000 - 07:08 pm I am a US citizen who has lived in Canada all my life, and have only recently applied for social security. I plan to move to California ealry next year and I am wondering whether my credit profile can be, or will be, automatically transfered when I apply for credit in the US? Also, is it possible even to establish a whole new credit identity if I wanted to? |
Christine Baker (Admin) | Tuesday, June 06, 2000 - 10:31 pm I recall that opening a Canadian bank account resulted in a credit check, but they didn't say where. What kind of credit profile do you currently have? Do the Canadians utilize the same three credit bureaus? |
ken hendricks (Ken) | Wednesday, June 07, 2000 - 06:11 am Thanks for responding Christine. Canada utilizes the same three credit bureaus but I don't know if they automatically share information. My credit profile in Canada is good but I was just curious. For example, I wondered if it would be possible to simply leave my debts behind me and with a new adress and Social Securuty # I thought theoretically I could begin a new profile on myself. Not that I would. |
