I just read the page at www.bayhouse.com about a client's credit report that changed dramatically in a matter of days...

I have another one for you. I'm purchasing a house right now and have been working with a mortgage broker a great deal. When we started out, my FICO score was around 630 on all my credit reports. I had a few collections that were paid, and not showing as paid. I also had duplicate collections listed (same collection, different account #).

I went to an agency that deals with those kind of problems, and they disputed the information for me. I recently received two of my credit reports back, each showing 2 paid collections vs. 4 unpaid collections as they showed earlier.

On a whim, I test drove a new car, and the deal looked good. The dealership ran my credit, and guess what? My FICO score was 526. Over a 100 point drop in two months, with absolutely no change other than the removal of collection info and updating other collection info to PAID!

Needless to say, I walked out. I am very concerned however, with my mortgage.

Be sure that you are talking about the same Score.

EACH bureau has a Score based on the data reported to THAT bureau. Many creditors only report to one or two credit bureaus.

The term "FICO Score" is often used instead of "Credit Score."

The FICO Score is the Experian Score, Beacon and Emperica are the others, but rarely does anyone name them properly.

Be sure you know WHICH Score (credit report) the broker and car dealer got.
