paul e | Sunday, November 28, 1999 - 07:19 am I have recently been turned down for a credit card based on information from the Credit Bureau of Oklahoma City. I am currently in the process of trying to repair my credit and I have ordered my credit reports from the 3 agencies. My question is how do I handle these small companies? How many are there? |
voigtkampff | Thursday, December 02, 1999 - 04:41 am I read that there are nearly a thousand, but that the only ones to worry about are the big three. I also read that some of the minor agencies are subsidiaries of the big 3 or have agreements with them about the area that they cover. You should get confirmation of this. Anybody? |

Robert Bielak | Friday, December 03, 1999 - 06:18 am The 'little ones' are extensions of the Big 3 - I went though this two years ago. Credit Bureau of Ann Arbor (MI) is affiliated with Trans Union. They have direct access to my TU file, just as if I called TU in Pennsylvania. In fact, the credit file that I received from them in 1998 looked EXACTLY like the ones I've received from TU since, except the name and address is different. Handle it with the Big 3, and it will take care of it everywhere. These 'little ones' use the data from one of the Big 3. They are not OWNED or OPERATED by the Big 3, just acting as them. |
