| | Friday, August 18, 2000 - 10:02 pm Thanks for the link. From the article: "As a result, bankers say, it makes sense to deny checking accounts to anyone with a black mark on their record. Today, ChexSystems has about 7 million names on file. Consumers stay on the ChexSystems list for five years. And unlike a credit report that must list both positive and negative information, ChexSystems only reports problems." Does this mean that 7 million consumers cannot open a checking account? Am I reading this right?

| | Saturday, August 19, 2000 - 02:13 pm Yep...And a lot of checking customers with BofA and Wells have been shown the door thanks to 1 bad check. It's subjective and as these jerks keep merging and getting bigger, trust me, ALL will be negatively affected.

| | Monday, August 21, 2000 - 03:23 pm Greg Fisher has some real dirt on ChexSystems and Deluxe Check Printers. (creditscoring.com) They have something here in Canada too called TeleCredit. The problem I have with these systems is that they allow no forgiveness for human error AND the onus is on you to prove them in the wrong when any errors occur. These systems could be much better than they are in catching rubber-check writers.
