Joe Conte | Tuesday, December 21, 1999 - 01:10 pm If a Creditor is no longer in Business... a Bank or a Dr... yet they have negative information on your Credit Report, what happens if/when you challenge it with the CRB? Thanks! |
Sean | Tuesday, December 21, 1999 - 02:30 pm I would assume that they would have difficulty verifying that information and it would most likely vanish. |
Cheryl | Tuesday, December 21, 1999 - 03:30 pm I had a collection account with one of the Bureaus. Found out who it was (a doctor) and that they were out of business, called the collection agency, found out that it wasn't even me but the collection agency would not remove it. Filed disputes with all 3 credit bureaus and it was removed. |
rcb | Tuesday, December 21, 1999 - 03:49 pm If the line item was put on there by the collection company, the CRA's will contact the collection company, not the Doctor's office. If their records are not straight (showing that it's no longer a valid debt because the Doc is out of business), or if the account was sold by the Doc to the collection agency, then there is a possibility that they will verify it. But in most cases, if the Doc is out of business, they can't verify and it will be deleted. |
