I have been invited to this roadshow and have been to their website. Has anyone attended and if so what do you think of it? thanks. It is performed by Steven Snyder, who along with his wife filed chapter 7 six years ago and was able to recover within 8 months (Horatio Alger?). I'm thinking of going just to see what the catch is.

Go to www.afterbankruptcy.org

I've decided to go and will report back on the details. They sell their book--we'll see what else. I have to give them credit for turning a bad event into a positive. Let's hope they're sincere. I've been burned too many times. In my neck of the woods, they're here on 4/29.

I would like more info on their seminar also, but in truth it does not sound that impressive to have credit within 8 months. Abut two years ago (in a major newspaper) I read a statistic that 17% of people who filed chapter 7 had MAJOR, UNsecured credit cards within 30 days of discharge. 17% might not sound that great, but that was 2 years ago.

Also, consider that the statistic was no doubt higher after 2 months, let alone 8 months. Also consider that the percentage is skewed by the number of people who are completely ignorant about credit, and never even pulled a credit report after discharge to ensure that it accurately showed all debts to be discharged.

I listen and learn to what I read on this board. If everyone agrees on a certain point, which does happen on occasion, then I assume that it is fact. I pass it on to clients when the bankruptcy is finished. Since it only takes about 20 to 30 minutes (you all don't agree on that much), I cannot even charge for the info.

I do not hear complaints abut re-establishment of credit. One client only 3 or 4 months out just purchased a car at 4% interest. At least that is what I am told by someone that they referred to me.

I would like to see what that seminar has to offer. I cannot attack it in my ignorance of its content. But do not downplay the info that already available here. If the seminar is not free, then I express some skepticism. I have doubts that one can improve much on what we read here. Let me know.

The seminar is "free", which is probably a lie since nothing is free in America.
I think it would be great if we could start a library on this site of lenders or creditors who would work with post bankruptcy survivors and identify those creditors as good or bad.
I have received unsolicited credit cards asking for deposits but haven't gotten the auto loans. I'd like to know where to go instead of paying exorbitant rates by sharks who know they've got you over the barrel.
I'd like to help those who get injured from the American Dream recover. The middle class needs to wake up from its sleep and realize that all this reorganization and lack of health insurance to cover major medical illnessess will soon be at their doorstep like those who have preceeded them. So many regard bankruptcy as being a personal weakness--similar to cancer--when in fact it is caused to a great degree by the failure of corporate America. And to think I used to be a conservative Republican believing all their bs about our system. Our system is basically: screw the little guy. I just looked at a proxy for a company which I used to work for--the top guys make 1000 times what the worker bee does. The top guys are really just ace politicians and don't have a clue about how to make the company function on a day to day basis. The top guys have survived the countless reorgs which drove profits higher. They're not the ones using bankruptcy as the last ditch defense to keep the family together. I'd better sign off, I'm getting more and more pissed.

Senator, I totally agree. And I really WANT this forum to be more than a place to complain and go on.

I'm not sure anything can be changed, but it can't hurt to try.

Since I haven't had any time to participate in any productive discussions, I'll make some changes with the forum.

That should improve the quality of postings and leave me with much more time.

This website is a tremendous help to anyone who wishes to utilize it and get a handle on how to deal with credit, creditors, recover from bankruptcy, etc. Much talent writes here.
My assignment will be to try and accumulate as much information on post bankruptcy mortgage lending as I can in order to share it with everyone else. Auto lending could really be helpful to a lot of people in addition to the credit card. People need to learn how to manage their finances to prepare for the inevitable shafting by the company also. My personal motto is "Never again. Never trust again."
