Rene Alcala (Ralcala) | Wednesday, August 23, 2000 - 06:08 am I received a letter from a collection company claiming that I owe $1700.00. When I called, they informed me it was a MasterCard account I had in 1985 that was "charged off" in 1987. The original amount was $300.00. The collection agency claims that the interest has been accruing since 1987 at 19%. Can an account continue to grow after it has been charged off. Should I pay it. They are offering a 50% discount on the total, but wonder after 14 years if it should be paid at all. Can it reappear on my credit report. Please help. |
