| | Tuesday, October 03, 2000 - 04:29 pm I just received a letter from a collection agency for a debt Macy's charged off in 1990. I had a vehicle repossessed in 1990 as well that I have NOT been contacted on since 93. Is there a statute of limitations by state or is federal? The collector for the Macy's debt said she would send a letter to the bureau after I paid it in full. I just cosigned for my daugther's car in July 2000. They said my credit was rated at 706 and told me I could buy another car too. If the vehicle people notify me can they charge me interest and do I have to pay it. My thought is, if there is no time frame they have to conform to, I believe I can negotiate the dollar figure? Also, is it true that once you mail them a check, even if it is for $10.00 and they cash it, it is a binding contract and they cannot get a higher payment out of you? Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
