David Temkin (Dtemkin) | Tuesday, October 10, 2000 - 12:08 pm Apparently VISA is interfaced with the electronic filing system (FACS or whatever it's called) that allows a person to see all new filings on a specific date. VISA notified Providian on Thursday of last week of my ch7 filing. By Friday, the account was closed. I got a letter today telling me to cut up my cards. My notices to creditors weren't mailed till Friday, so there's no way they could've known by that and gotten that letter to me that fast. I called Providian and asked "So I should assume this means that Providian has no interest in a reaffirmation agreement?" and the "customer service" rep informed me that they never do that. Real intelligent. Take a chance on a customer who can't file bnk for another 6 years who's had a good payment history with you since you opened the account, or eat $1400. Wonder if Providian's stockholders would like that info? Looks like the idea of 'not including an account in bnk' is no longer accurate. FYI all: I've filed, the paperwork was accepted. The only info the trustee is asking of me is a paystub, so I feel pretty safe that this is going to go pretty well :-) -Dave |
