Maurice (Maurice) | Tuesday, November 07, 2000 - 08:48 am I pulled my Experian report the other day and noticed that FMA Alliance Ltd. of Houston did an inquiry on me a couple of weeks ago. I believe its only interest in me could be an account that charged off in 1992, more than eight years ago. FMA has not added a tradeline; it simply did an inquiry. Part of me wonders if it is trying to "poison" my file with inquiries. This angers me, as I've worked very hard in recent years to rebuild my profile. Not a single black mark appears on any of my reports with the bureaus, and all of my credit scores are in the neighborhood of 720. Guess I'm asking if folks have any info on FMA and whether I should challenge the inquiry with Experian. I don't want to bring attention to my file, but I've already paid the price of seven years in credit hell and believe this firm is trying to lengthen my term. Any ideas? Theories? |
Shylock (Shylock) | Tuesday, November 07, 2000 - 12:10 pm What does it say the purpose of the inquiry is? |
Maurice (Maurice) | Tuesday, November 07, 2000 - 12:17 pm Shylock: Sorry. Can't answer that question. I pulled the report from TrueCredit.com, and the purpose wasn't specified. But given that FMA is a collection agency, I'm thinking it must be for "collection" purposes. |
Michael Bardelli (Bull22) | Tuesday, November 07, 2000 - 03:27 pm Sounds to me like "collection purposes" expired when the SOL on that account elasped. What do you think? |
Shylock (Shylock) | Tuesday, November 07, 2000 - 04:29 pm I completely disagree. You have the right to try to collect on an account and/or inquire on credit no matter how much time has elapsed, unless the account is paid. |
