Update: Nick Reale's brother wrote that Nick died in an auto accident the day before Thanksgiving 2002. He asked me to remove this page because he had just set up his parents with a computer and internet and he also did not want Nick's kids to find this page about their father. "I am sure you can understand that I would prefer that should any of them ever search the internet for his name they do not find your commentary." Of course I can understand that. However, removing this page would defeat the purpose of all my pages. Many of my defendants and their attorneys make it very clear that they could not care less about my publications of their despicable business practices and lack of ethics and morals. My hope is that a few people will think just a little further than their next pay check and career and car and house and vacation and the "here and now." If you are a member of Nick's family or a friend, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sorry that you have to learn on the web how Nick did business and that not everybody remembers him as a successful businessman. I'm sure that wherever Nick is now, it's not a problem for him and nothing will make him happier than knowing that this silly argument in 1996 might encourage a few people to try to live a little less selfish life. Forgive, but don't forget. We don't all have to make the same mistakes. We can learn. We have choices. Nobody has to do whatever they do to earn their paycheck. - Christine I had no idea who Nick Reale was and never had any communications with him prior to receiving THIS E-mail: To: bayhouse@bayhouse.com YOU ARE SUCH AN ASSHOLE. I HAVE YET TO FIND SOMEONE WITH SO MUCH HATRED FOR MAKING MONEY. DO YOU GO INTO THE STORES AND ASK THEM WHAT THEY PAY FOR A PARTICULAR ITEM AND TELL THEM THAT THEY ARE RIPPING OFF THE PUBLIC? THE SYSTEM IS ABOUT MAKING BUSINESS. I WILL BET THAT YOU DO NOT TELL YOUR CLIENTS EXACTLY WHAT YOU EARN ON EVERY TRANSACTION, I WILL BET THAT YOU ARE A SNAKE IN THE GRASS.. A HYPOCRITE. YOU PROBABLY DO A MEAGER BUSINESS BECAUSE YOU ARE SO CONCERNED WITH WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING AND EARNING THAT YOU CANNOT CONCENTRATE ON MAKING BUSINESS FOR YOURSELF. YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A LOSER, COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SYSTEM. TRY TO CONCENTRATE ON MAKING BUSINESS AND I AM SURE THAT YOU WILL BE MUCH HAPPIER THAN YOU ARE NOW. HELP PEOPLE BUT YET MAKE MONEY, THAT IS THE KEY. QUIT JUMPING ALL OVER PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT LIKE YOU, PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT, REALIZE IT AND GET ON WITH LIFE, YOU LOSER. If he only didn't use all CAPS. I find all CAPS extremely hard to read. I converted Nick's mail to lower case. But then I felt it took away that *instant* moron label. In case you're new to the net, using all CAPS is considered screaming. I used to think I had a disability, but have since learned that a lot of people can barely read all CAPS. Now I'm convinced that's why the government requires the use of all CAPS in mandated disclosures, which subsequently nobody reads. On December 3, 1996 I replied: And you don't even have the guts to sign your idiotic mail :) I'd bet $100 you're a mortgage broker. No manners and stupid to top it off! Christine Baker It shows that I was a little annoyed. At that time, in 1996, much of the BayHouse web site was about the unethical business practices of real estate and mortgage brokers. I explained in detail how mortgage brokers often doubled and tripled their disclosed montage broker fees, stealing THOUSANDS of dollars from their customers. Many mortgage brokers had expressed their dislike for my publication of their business practices. Please note that I wrote "I'd bet ..." As far as I know, this could either be the abbreviation for "I would bet ..." (my intention) or "I had bet ..." I was pretty sure this guy wasn't a school teacher, engineer or janitor. Subject: Re: (no subject) HLAC If you are honorable you will send the money immediately. I am
a lender. I bet you don't send the money because you did not earn
enough money this month to pay me. See ya Loser. Nick goes after money like a shark after blood. Nick's definition of "honorable" must be "incredibly stupid!" On December 6, 1996 I replied: Please mail your business STREET address (not a PO BOX), your name and title at HLAC, what HLAC stands for, and the address of your licensing agency in Florida. You are licensed, aren't you? Once I verified that you in fact are a licensed lender and do not broker loans, I'll mail the $100 check. I'm nearly done adding our correspondence to the web site, you're such a fine example of the type of people in the lending business. Don't know why you're so upset about brokers having to disclose their profits. Let me guess, as long as they can deceive and cheat borrowers you get their loans? Or you originate loans to the public directly and are worried about legislation prohibiting excessive profits? Clue me in, what's your problem, winner? You have a web site? Christine Baker While I obviously didn't have a bet going with Nick, I decided it was worth $100 to get the street address and licensing info. I was going to southern Florida, and if he was anywhere close, I thought I'd pay him a visit. Ooops, let me rephrase that, or Nick will want MORE MONEY! Let's just say I wanted to visit Nick and HLAC. No, Nick, I did NOT say I will pay you money to visit you, so don't get excited! Mapquest found TWO Longwoods in FL. Unfortunately, I never drove through any Longwood in Florida, so I never got to visit Nick. Subject: Re: (no subject) I do not understand your intentions or your dislike for business. if you do not like the way the lending is done. I do not understand your intentions or your dislike for business. If you do not like the way the lending is done, leave the industry. You seem to have a perversion with telling people that they are being ripped off. I would suggest some mental help. Also, I do not wish to be included in your web site nor do I wish to be quoted. If I find I am, you will be contacted and legal action will be pursued by corporate counsel. That is an attorney if you did not know or understand. I expressible do not give you permission to use any quotes or comments of mine for anything that your perverse pea brain can think up. Well, as regular readers know, legal threats always motivate me to get those pages published. I have yet to see a court order telling me to take a page down. Zoom tried and went out of business. On March 4, 1997, I officially awarded Nick Reale the BayHouse Moron of the Year 1996 Award: To: Nick Reale <nickre19@idt.net> Thank you very much for the opportunity to award you the Please enjoy reading http://www.bayhouse.com/np/moron.html You may proudly display a printout of the page in your home or office, or anywhere else. It's been fun! Christine Baker Could Nick be an 8 year old just having fun? My best guess is that he's a hard money lender. I just can't imagine a FNMA approved lender sending out his type of mail. As always, I will update should I get more info on Nick and HLAC or replies from him or his "corporate counsel." October 2000: I haven't heard from Nick, but a reader once wrote about him. She had applied for a loan with Nick and after lots of problems, she started looking for him on the web and found this page. It sure sounded to me like he had promised to BROKER her loan. I also never again heard from the "real estate professionals" published on the Definitions Page. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to give more moron awards, but as I started the BayHouse Forum, most morons posted there directly. Recently I posted Michael Shannahan's e-mail at the BayHouse Forum: He had been posting at the BayHouse Forum, had all postings e-mailed to him, and I have NO idea why he sent me this private E-mail. Go figure ... I found that publishing the morons' e-mails greatly reduces those types of mailings to just a few per year. October 2004: How time flies .... I've learned that "justice" exists primarily in movies and it really does not matter how illegal my defendants' business practices are, it's almost impossible to prevail in court against the credit bureaus, credit card companies and scammers. I often wonder why I bother, and I'm at the point where I really don't want to bother anymore. But I'm determined to finish my lawsuits, to publish whatever happens, and to especially focus on the PEOPLE involved. Corporations frequently merge and change their names and they don't have friends and family. Corporations do nothing and make no decisions. Human beings decide how the corporations exploit yet a few more million people and how to squeeze a few more dollars out of the already disadvantaged. I believe that even the corporate attorneys are human beings, although I unfortunately can't prove that yet. - Christine
